Parkway’s Luxurious Cinema Now Open In Beverley… Just In Time For Christmas And Star Wars

The force was strong with the construction team at the new 6-Screen Parkway cinema in Beverley. The team has been working through the night to ensure the cinema and theatre is ready for the new Star Wars film, The Force Awakens.

“We’ve made it by the skin of our teeth, but with the help of our friends in Beverley we did a “dress rehearsal” on Wednesday to test that we were ready to open,” said Cliff Baillie, General Manager. “The idea was to test our team, and our technology in full, and we certainly did that! Thanks to the hard work and sheer enthusiasm of our staff we’re pleased to announce we’re now open!”

The soft launch offered the chance to visit the cinema for only 50p per ticket, a strictly limited number were available with a choice of films, and allowed the team and technology to be put through its paces.

The first week is due to be dominated by the phenomenon of Star Wars, but there will be a great selection of fantastic films to enjoy. New releases include; family fare from Disney/Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur and Snoopy & Charlie Brown; critically acclaimed films such as The Lady in the Van, Black Mass and Bridge of Spies as well as the latest festive comedy, Christmas with the Coopers.

There will also be the opportunity to get into the Christmas spirit with morning screenings of some Festive favourites such as its A Wonderful Life, Elf and The Muppets Christmas Carol.

“This is just the start, with live opera, theatre and ballet in our Event Cinema Season starting in January. We’ll be offering special weekly film screenings which we hope will appeal to a wide and differing audience.” continued Mr. Baillie. “We hope we have opened a cinema worthy of the East Riding and we look forward to welcoming everyone in the years to come.”

Dominic Gibbons, Managing Director of Wykeland Group added: “We are thrilled to see the opening of the Independent Parkway Cinema for the region. It offers Flemingates’ visitors another exciting reason to enjoy the shopping and dining here throughout the day and into the evening. This is the first time in 47 years since the local area has had a cinema and we are privileged to be part of this exciting launch for Beverley.”

The Parkway offers six digital screens equipped with Dolby 7.1 sound, and the largest auditorium boasts stunning 4K projection plus a stage for live performances.
