Starbucks makes Beverley debut at Flemingate

Beverley’s first Starbucks coffee shop has opened at the popular Flemingate retail and leisure development.

The new branch has created eight jobs and is operated by Starbucks franchise partner, Soul Coffee House Ltd, bringing Starbucks’ range of ethically-sourced coffee and other refreshments to the local community.

With a modern contemporary look, the store offers both indoor seating, incorporating comfy leather seats, and an outdoor area. The interior features abstract and colourful artwork.

The location offers the perfect spot for shoppers, college students and nearby residents to take a break over Starbucks favourites, such as Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino, Toffee Nut Latte or Chai Tea.

Graham Tait, Flemingate Centre Manager, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Starbucks as the latest leading brand to open at Flemingate and really pleased Starbucks has chosen the centre for its first location in Beverley.

“Starbucks is immensely popular with coffee lovers and another excellent addition to Flemingate’s array of great retail and leisure brands.

“Outfit and Superdrug also opened earlier this month so there’s great momentum now as we get ready to celebrate Flemingate’s first anniversary on November 4 and look ahead to the busiest shopping period of the year in the run-up to Christmas.”

Store Manager Tessa Stork, 22, initially joined Starbucks as an apprentice and was delighted to be able to return to her hometown of Beverley after a four-year stint managing a branch of Starbucks in Leeds.

She said: “We’re really excited to open our new store in the Flemingate centre – the first Starbucks in Beverley. We’ve had a very warm welcome from the other retailers who are based here and we’re very happy to be part of the Flemingate family.

“We’ve initially employed eight members of staff and we’re hoping to hire an apprentice barista before Christmas.”

Fiona Smith, Managing Director for Soul Coffee House Ltd, said, “We are thrilled to open the first Starbucks store in Beverley and join the community at the Flemingate centre. We are very much looking forward to getting to know our local customers.”

Karen Fenwick, Director of Franchising and Licensing, Starbucks UK, said: “Flemingate is a fantastic setting for this new store with our franchise partner Soul Coffee House Ltd. We’re delighted to have opened, bringing great coffee and world-class service to our local customers.”

The store is located within Armstrong House, which also has Grade A office premises on the first and second floors, and offers great views of Beverley Minster. It is open 7.00am – 7.30pm Mondays to Saturdays and 8.00am – 6.00pm on Sundays.

Developed and owned by Hull-based regeneration company Wykeland Group, the £120m Flemingate development is Beverley’s largest ever regeneration scheme.

Flemingate has extended and enhanced Beverley town centre and made the historic market town a bigger draw than ever before. In addition to many leading national retailers, such as H&M and River Island, that could not previously be accommodated in Beverley, Flemingate has brought much-needed new facilities to the town, including East Riding College, an 80-bed Premier Inn, six-screen independent Parkway cinema and 130 new homes.
