Work Begins To Expand Manufacturer’s Operation

Work is now underway on a £4m pound extension to Allam Marine’s Melton-based manufacturing operation.

Leading Hull property company, Wykeland Group, is developing the state-of-the-art 64,000sqft factory and Head Quarters office complex adjacent to the generator maker’s existing operation on Gibson Lane.

The building, which is forecast to be complete in the second quarter of next year, will double Allam Marine’s manufacturing capacity and increase its warehouse and distribution space by a third.

The extra space will enable the company to increase its turnover from £132m beyond the £200m mark over the coming years.

The development is part of ongoing work at Wykeland’s Melton West Business Park which includes Yorkshire’s only speculative commercial development.

The park has seen a steady flow of enquiries over recent months from companies across this region and beyond looking to take advantage of its strategic location and premium design standard of its built environment.
Dominic Gibbons, Managing Director of the Queen Street-based Wykeland Group, said he was extremely pleased to be working with a great local manufacturer to help realise its expansion plans.

He said: “Allam Marine’s new building exemplifies everything Melton West Business Park stands for – state-of-the-art design linked to functional buildings and facilities produced for a world-leading business.

“The Allam building will help to continue to set the benchmark for the design of business space in the region.”

Other leading firms to occupy Melton West Business Park including Heron Foods, House of Townend and most recently Kohler Mira, the Hull-based shower manufacturer whose £6m state-of-the-art factory and offices is also currently being developed by Wykeland which will be complete prior to Christmas.

Wykeland has appointed Hull business Hall Construction as contractors on the Allam building, which is currently preparing the ground in preparation for the construction phase of this new build.

Ehab Allam, Operations Director of Allam Marine, said seeing work get underway was very exciting for the company.

He said: “We’ve seen considerable growth over the last couple of years thanks to a successful marketing campaign that emphasised the quality of our products. But it has left us short of space, so to take Allam Marine to the next level we need to expand and are investing significant amounts to do that.

“We have always had a philosophy of working with local companies and suppliers wherever possible so we wanted to do that on this project. Having businesses the like of Wykeland Group on our doorstep means we can while achieving the build quality we wanted.”
