Wykeland Appoints Mcmullen Wilson To Flemingate Leasing Team

Wykeland Group has today announced that McMullen Wilson is to join the Flemingate leasing team, working alongside Fawley Watson Booth and Tushingham Moore’s leisure specialists. The news coincides with the appointment of David Hopps to McMullen Wilson as a director.

Flemingate is Wykeland’s 162,561 sq ft retail and leisure development in Beverley. Under construction and due to open next autumn, Flemingate is anchored by a 40,000 sq ft new concept Debenhams, a 33,723 sq ft five-screen Parkway digital cinema, and an 80-room Premier Inn hotel. Flemingate also has a 500-space multi-storey carpark, the largest in Beverley, and Zizzi has signed as the first restaurant brand.

Commenting on the appointment of McMullen Wilson, Dominic Gibbons, Managing Director of Wykeland Group, said: “McMullen Wilson brings a new edge to Flemingate, particularly with its track record in leasing high quality centres throughout the UK. We are delighted that David Hopps is joining the team too, as his experience in dealing with leading brands will play a key role in the next phase of Flemingate’s development. We have a strong anchor line-up, so our focus now is on securing the right mix of great names that will benefit from the size and quality of Beverley’s catchment, and the lack of comparable competition.”

David Hopps, Director at McMullen Wilson, added: “Flemingate is a great scheme in a great location for high quality brands seeking to capitalise on a very affluent catchment. We are very excited to be joining the team, and have already begun discussions with a number of leading names we are confident will be very successful in Flemingate. Feedback so far suggests demand for Flemingate will outstrip supply.”

Flemingate’s retail and leisure offer is complemented by a 60,000 sq ft campus for East Riding College, construction of which commenced on site two weeks ago. 130 new homes have already been delivered as part of the mixed-use development. Once finished, Flemingate will create approximately 700 jobs, with a further 130 during construction.
