AWARD winning laser company Rofin Sinar UK has become the latest big name company to announce a move to Bridgehead – the north’s ‘most sustainable’ business park.
The company is to move from its current base on York Way, Willerby, to an 80,000sqft office, research, development and high quality clean manufacturing facility on the park, designed and developed by leading commercial developer Wykeland Group.
The announcement further underlines Bridgehead’s ability to attract cutting edge companies from across all sectors and secures its position as the region’s premier commercial development.
It comes after East Yorkshire house builder Beal Homes unveiled its plans to move to the business park earlier this year.
Work will start on the Rofin Sinar building in the first quarter of next year and the company will look to move there in early 2015.
Stepehn Hudson, Wykeland’s Development Director said there was a ‘real synergy’ between the cutting edge manufacturer and Bridgehead which is making huge strides in sustainable construction and wildlife conservation.
“Rofin Sinar UK is a tremendously innovative company,” he said. “So when they decided they needed new premises to facilitate their expansion and develop their products further, there was really nowhere else in this region they could have looked.
“Bridgehead not only offers the company the ability to completely bespoke their new building, which is essential to businesses such as Rofin, it also includes a significant number of innovations of its own.
“The park employs biomass boilers, solar pv panels, natural ventilation and free night air cooling system, daylight dimming lights and even an electric car charging points, making it one of the most sustainable business park in the north if not the most.
“With more announcements due over the coming months, the mixture of companies we are attracting goes to show that Bridgehead is the most sought after commercial location in the Humber region.”
Bridgehead is located between the northern approach roads to the Humber Bridge and has been designed with input from the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to enhance and protect local wildlife through a combined biodiversity, landscape and drainage strategy.
During the creation of the park the company has planting 8,000 new shrubs and hedgerows, 4,500 herbs and bulbs and more than 200 new trees to enhance and supplement the existing natural landscape.
The move will enable Rofin Sinar UK to nearly double its existing capacity and retain land for future expansion, and has been partly funded by a central government Regional Growth Fund grant administered through the Humber LEP.
