VERB brings stylish, timeless fashion to Flemingate

A new retail brand is bringing stylish men’s and women’s wear to Beverley’s Flemingate centre.

Lee Wardell, who has 35 years of retail experience, has launched VERB, which will offer contemporary fashion combined with unrivalled customer service to style-conscious consumers.

VERB features quality menswear brands including Florentino; Gibson London; Pearly King; Brooks Taverner; Mac Jeans; Alberto Jeans; and Goodwin Smith Shoes. The brands have been hand-picked to give style-aware customers the perfect mix of key fashion themes, classic elegance and up-to-date pieces.

The new store also stocks an expanding range of womenswear, which kicks off with a selection of key spring and summer essentials.

Lee, who lives in Beverley, is delighted to launch his new business in his home town, creating five new jobs.

He said: “VERB brings something special to Beverley in terms of men’s fashion. I’ve carefully selected a range of quality brands renowned for timeless and contemporary pieces which are key to a man’s wardrobe.

“Supporting our great range of clothing is our commitment to provide outstanding customer service. Our highly-trained staff will offer expert guidance and advice to customers who are looking for excellent product knowledge, high-end service and an independent shopping experience.

“Beverley is a lovely place and we’re in a great location at Flemingate for customers to park and have a relaxing shopping experience combined with something to eat or drink at one of the centre’s great cafes or restaurants.”

Lee was the manager at popular and long-established Leonard Silver Menswear in Saturday Market in Beverley for four years until it closed recently, due to the owner’s retirement.

He added: “Leonard Silver had a very loyal customer base and I’m sure the arrival of VERB will be welcomed by the many people who were sorry to see it go.

“VERB is new and different, but the commitment to excellence in quality and customer service will remain the same. I’m looking forward to serving many of my old customers and also welcoming new ones.”

The 1,550 sq ft store features leather Chesterfield seating, a pool table and a display centrepiece showcasing some of the top brands available.

Graham Tait, Flemingate Centre Manager, said: “We’re delighted that VERB has opened at Flemingate.

“Lee brings his extensive knowledge and experience in men’s retail to the centre, together with leading brands of menswear and womenswear.

“VERB will give customers a taste of something out of the ordinary which will complement Flemingate’s strong fashion offering and mix of high street and independent outlets.

“As an independent, distinctive and high-quality outlet, VERB adds to Beverley’s ever-growing appeal as a retail destination and a great place to visit.”

Developed and owned by Hull-based regeneration company Wykeland Group, the Flemingate development is Beverley’s largest ever regeneration scheme.

Flemingate has a host of major high street names such as Debenhams, H&M, River Island, Peacocks, Superdrug, The Entertainer and Wilko as well as the multi-brand retailer Outfit, which features fashion must-haves from the likes of Topshop, Topman, Dorothy Perkins, Wallis, Miss Selfridge and Burton. These are complemented by high-quality independents such as jeweller Guest and Philips and homewares retailer Baytree Interiors.

VERB can be found next to independent jeweller Guest and Philips and is open Monday to Saturday, 9.30am to 5.30pm and Sundays, 11am to 4pm.
