A Home for Nature – arts, wildlife and community

Wykeland has engaged Elaine Burke, Arts Consultant, to develop and lead ‘A Home for Nature’- an exciting environmental arts project at the Bridgehead Business Park. Wykeland has a strong track-record as a supporter of arts and culture in Hull and East Riding, and values the arts as a powerful catalyst for local transformation and regeneration. The company is interested in new and innovative ways of connecting with communities, with particular emphasis on children and young people; to make lasting impacts by inspiring and supporting the development of the next generation.

Elaine Burke will shortly be appointing a dynamic and experienced artist to lead the ‘A Home for Nature ‘project.  Working with pupils from nearby All Saints Junior School and Hessle High School, the artist will create inventive and delightful homes for a range of wildlife including birds, bats, insects, small animals etc. These artistically designed homes for wildlife on site will be beautiful and inspiring artworks in their own right. The starting point for the project is that nature inspires the artworks, and the artworks support nature.

In addition, the artist will also work closely with both All Saints and Hessle High to position the project as an inspiring starting point for other initiatives in both schools, opening up opportunities for the project to link with a range of curriculum areas. The aim is to make lasting impacts by inspiring, encouraging and raising the aspirations of the young people who participate.
