Infrastructure work including access roads and drainage has got underway on phase two of one of the north’s most sustainable business park.
Hull-based developer Wykeland Group has instructed Melton contractor CR Reynolds to prepare the site for the second stage of Bridgehead in a contract worth £1.3m, after successfully completing the infrastructure works on phase one.
Developed by the Wykeland Group, the first phase of Bridgehead lies on the north side of the A15 in the northern approach road up to the Humber Bridge, and is now home to big name companies including the John Good Group, Beal Homes and Victoria Plumb.
The second phase of the development will be built on the south side of the road and will mirror the architectural style and parkland environment of the first.
Bridgehead’s landscape strategy has been developed in association with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to ensure bio-diversity on the site increases as a result of the development work.
The buildings employ renewable energy technologies including biomass boilers, solar PV panels, a natural ventilation and free night air cooling systems and daylight dimming lights, making it one of the UK’s most sustainable business parks.
The work has been partly funded by an ERDF grant and includes constructing an access road to tie up with that of phase one, installing drainage, street lighting and comprehensive landscaping of the entire site.

Grant Edmondson, Property Director at Wykeland, said he was delighted that work had got underway and he was looking forward to seeing the second phase of the development take shape.
He said: “Phase one of Bridgehead has been a tremendous success not only in terms of take up of space but also to the quality of occupiers it has attracted, the work we have done with the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to improve bio-diversity and overall aesthetics of the business park.
“We have decided to bring phase two forward because demand has been so high with phase one and there has already been a lot of interest. We’re confident phase two will be equally successful.”
More than 150,000sqft of grade A office and other commercial space has already been created at Phase one of Bridgehead. When the whole scheme is completed the development will total 612,000sqft.
The infrastructure work got underway in late August.
