Wykeland Group has appointed local contractor C R Reynolds Ltd to deliver the latest major infrastructure investment at the developer’s Melton West business park.
Hessle-based civil engineering and construction company C R Reynolds has begun work on a new roundabout on Brickyard Lane in a £1.1m project that will support continuing investment and job creation at the growing East Yorkshire business park.
The roundabout, which gained planning permission last October, will open up Plots D and E at Melton West for development and facilitates access to the existing extensive infrastructure that is enabling the ongoing growth of the site as one of Yorkshire and the Humber region’s premier locations for business investment.
The works are expected to be completed by mid-June and are linked to the development of a new 123,000 sq ft warehouse and distribution centre on Plot D at the business park. Construction of this facility has also begun.
Jonathan Stubbs, Development Director of Hull-based Wykeland, said: “We’re pleased to have begun this latest phase of development at Melton West, which will support tens of millions of pounds of investment and the creation of thousands of jobs, consistent with the designation of the site in the East Riding Local Plan as a key location for major employment use.
“We’re also delighted to have appointed C R Reynolds to carry out these works. Across all our developments we’re committed to working with and supporting local contractors and suppliers, to maximise the benefits from our investments in terms of local business growth, employment and training opportunities.”
Andy Gaze, Managing Director of C R Reynolds, said: “We are delighted to be working, once again, with our long-standing, valued client Wykeland and look forward to successful delivery of these works.
“This will be the fifth contract we have carried out for Wykeland at Melton West, along with several at Wykeland’s nearby Bridgehead development at Hessle. Securing this work will allow C R Reynolds to continue to grow and create employment for the local workforce.”
To date Wykeland has developed almost 800,000 sq ft of office, warehouse, distribution and manufacturing space at the 200-acre business park, with a further 275,000 sq ft of development currently under construction.
