One of the regions largest construction projects commences at Meltonwest.
Having gained planning consent in the summer for a new 267,000 distribution facility, construction of this new home of Hull based Heron Foods has commenced.
The complexity of the design of the building required Wykeland to pull in the resources of numerous consultants for Heron to ensure that all aspects of the design worked in harmony.
With chilled, frozen and ambient storage in addition to a new head quarter office it was never going to be a straightforward task but the co-ordinated approach of all involved has resulted in an optimal design solution for Heron. In accordance with Heron’s desire to achieve their sustainable agenda, the design of the building has exceeded the requirements of Building Regulations with the incorporation in the design of technology such as Rain water harvesting and solar water heating.
The construction will be undertaken by Volker Stevin and is due to complete in August 2009.
