Sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of Wykeland’s culture. Whilst proud of our heritage, we are serious about the impact our developments could have on the social, culture and physical environment in the future.
At Wykeland, we strive to minimise the environmental effect our buildings will have by utilising modern energy efficient and sustainable technologies.
Building specifications have included free night air cooling and low energy combined heating/cooling ventilation systems, PIR and light sensitive lighting, rain water harvesting, biomass heating, natural ventilation and solar water heating into recent schemes and over 2000 solar PV panels have been installed.
As well as the building, Wykeland considers the workforce and in particular, systematically understands how people travel to and from their places of work. We have now installed EV Charging points across many of our developments to ensure travelling to and from sites are future-proofed.
At our Bridgehead and Melton West developments, we work in partnership with Yorkshire Wildlife Trust to ensure the sites are managed and designed with landscaping to form the ideal habitat for a diverse range of wildlife. Yorkshire Wildlife Trust manage approximately 60 Acres of our land. Bridgehead is also one of the greenest business parks in the UK with 40% of the site committed to landscaping.
